A Death Has Occured

Most deaths occur in health care institution or at home under hospice care. In which case the attending staff may provide you with preliminary information. If the death occurred at home and was unexpected or if there are any suspicious circumstances: please notify the local Police Department immediately. No matter your situation, our checklist will help you.

 

Step 1: Initial Contact

  • Contact the attending nurse, doctor, hospice, or local Police Department.
  • Contact us by phone at 385-275-1717 -We are available 24 hours a day every day.
  • When you call we will ask some basic questions like:
    • What is the full name of the person who died?
    • Where did death occur? Where are they located now?
    • Who is the next of kin and their contact information?
    • Have arrangements been made previously with our firm for the deceased?
    • Are you planning for a burial or cremation?


Step 2: Completing Burial or Cremation Arrangements

  • Arrangements can be completed online for Burial or Cremation. Should you have any questions as you are completing the process, you are welcome to contact us at 385-275-1717. We are honored to assist with anything that may be unclear. You may also schedule a time to make arrangements in person with a member of our staff.
  • Compose an obituary and submit it to us for publication on our website with a photograph. A questionnaire is available to assist you in knowing what to include.
